The International Labour Organization (ILO) is working with many countries to establish the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO). The latest version of this standard is called ISCO-08. In Canada, ISCO-08 was the basis for the development of NOC, which is used in the Canadian labour market.
Your country of destination may use a different title to describe your intended occupation, according to its own classification system. Consult NOC and ISCO-08 and then contact the government ministry or department responsible for the labour market and employment in your country of destination to help you identify the occupational classifications in use there. This will enable you to get the right information about working in your intended occupation in that country.
